Rwanda

The Land of a Thousand Hills

The Land of a Thousand Hills

Rwanda, often referred to as “Le Pays des Mille Collines” (The Land of a Thousand Hills), continues to captivate travelers with its stunning natural beauty and rich wildlife. From the majestic Virunga volcanoes in the northwest, to the serene shores of Lake Kivu, Rwanda offers a diverse range of landscapes and experiences that make it a top destination for luxury safaris. Beyond its breathtaking scenery, Rwanda is known for its strong conservation efforts, warm and welcoming people, and world-class wildlife encounters, particularly with the mountain gorillas.

Why Visit Rwanda?

Volcanoes National Park

Located in the northwest, Volcanoes National Park is home to Rwanda’s portion of the Virunga Mountains and provides access to one of the world’s most iconic wildlife experiences: mountain gorilla trekking. With only around 1,000 mountain gorillas left in the wild, Rwanda’s commitment to conservation ensures that this experience is not only rare but also deeply rewarding. The park’s dramatic landscape, comprised of five active volcanoes, offers an unparalleled safari experience.

Nyungwe Forest National Park

Rwanda’s hidden gem, Nyungwe Forest National Park, is a pristine montane rainforest in the southwest, known for its incredible biodiversity. The park is home to chimpanzees and a myriad of other primate species, and its trails offer a chance to trek through one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. It’s a must-see destination for clients seeking unique wildlife experiences and unparalleled natural beauty.

Akagera National Park

In stark contrast to Rwanda’s forested landscapes, Akagera National Park offers the savannah safari experience. Located in the eastern part of the country, Akagera is home to a growing population of the Big Five, including lions, elephants, and rhinos, as well as a variety of plains game such as zebras, giraffes, and topis. Akagera is ideal for clients who wish to experience both traditional safari landscapes and Rwanda’s ongoing conservation efforts.

Private Villas and Residences

For the ultimate in exclusivity, we offer a curated selection of private villas and luxury homes in Rwanda. These fully serviced residences provide unparalleled privacy, flexibility, and personalized service, making them the ideal option for discerning travelers seeking a truly unique African experience.

When to Visit Rwanda

When to Visit Rwanda

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Rwanda is during the dry months, from June to September. These months are optimal for gorilla trekking, as the trails are less muddy and trekking conditions are at their best. Additionally, the dry season offers ideal conditions for wildlife viewing across the country.

High Season

Rwanda’s high season occurs from May to October, coinciding with the ideal conditions for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

Low Season

The low season in Rwanda runs from March to May due to the long rainy season, which can make trekking conditions challenging. However, this period is perfect for chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest.

Best Weather

The best weather occurs in June and July, with cooler temperatures and clear skies, making it the perfect time for enjoying Rwanda’s attractions.

Wildlife

The Big Five?

Rwanda offers an exceptional opportunity to see the Big Five in Akagera National Park, where clients can spot lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards.

Must-See Wildlife

Mountain gorillas and chimpanzees are Rwanda’s primary wildlife highlights. Trekking to see these incredible species is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In addition to gorillas and chimpanzees, clients can expect to see an array of primates, plains game, and birds, particularly in Nyungwe and Akagera National Parks.
